How Roof Restoration Quote Matching Works
Step one: describe the roof
Fill in one form with your name, phone, suburb and a few lines about the roof. Useful details include whether it is tile or steel, roughly how old it is, how many storeys the house has, any leaks or stains inside and what you have noticed from the ground, such as faded paint, moss, cracked ridge capping or rust around screws. A few photos taken from the ground help.
Step two: restorers choose whether to reply
We pass the request to independent restorers who say they work in your area. Whether one replies is up to them. Their prices, licences, insurance, crews and calendars are their own business. We cannot promise a reply, a roof inspection or a start date, and we cannot say that any one business is better than another.
Step three: line the replies up
Ask each business to price the same roof, stage by stage. Ask for the QBCC licence number and class, and look it up on the register. Ask how many metres of ridge will be rebedded, which sealer and top coat are named, how many coats are applied and what warranty is in writing. Ask also what the business would do if your roof could contain asbestos.
Step four: decide, or walk away
Accept one, ask for changes, wait for more replies or drop the idea. Sending the form is free and commits you to nothing. If a business asks for money up front, read the contract carefully and ask the QBCC if you are unsure what is reasonable. A deposit or a deadline to sign today is a reason to slow down.
What to have ready
Photos from the ground, the age of the roof if you know it, the roof area if it appears on your plans, a note of where leaks show inside and the date of any past repairs are enough. If you hold an inspection report, a warranty from an earlier job or insurance paperwork after a storm, keep it handy. None of this is compulsory, and each item makes a quote more accurate.
Where our part ends
Passing the request along is the whole service. We do not visit a roof, advise on a particular job, check licences or insurance or handle any money between you and a business. Each guide is general information with a source, and none is advice for your roof. We are not a party to your contract.
If a job goes wrong
Raise it with the business first and keep every message, photo and invoice. For building work the Queensland regulator is the QBCC, which is where we point you to check a licence class. A dispute with an insurer is a matter between you and the insurer. We cannot step in, and we cannot judge who is right.
